You can speed up data entry in Excel by controlling the direction the cell pointer moves when you press Enter. So, to enter data across a row, or down a column configure Excel to move in the desired direction.. Choose File > Options > Advanced and in the Editing Options group of settings ensure that the After pressing Enter, move selection checkbox is checked. Choose the desired direction from the Direction list and click Ok. In future, when you type a cell entry and press Enter the cell pointer will move in that direction automatically.
